Comcast’s NBC is Ramping Up Its Anti-Cord Cutting Attacks

man cutting cord with scissorsOver the last year NBC has published several stories attacking cord cutting. Now in just about a week NBC has published two stories attacking cord cutting.

Last week NBC released a story titled “The Disney+ rollout shows the streaming wars are over. Viewers lost.” Now this week NBC released a story called “Streaming services are causing a ‘mass of customer confusion’ and decision paralysis.

So what is NBC’s main attack on cord cutting now? Well according to the story some streamers spend as much as nine minutes trying to decide what to watch. Yet you don’t seem to find any talk about the endless hours Americans with cable spend every year channel surfing trying to find something to watch with their over 100 cable TV channels.

This idea that cord cutters need to now remember what streaming services have their show is somehow more complicated than the need to not only know what channel has your show but also when that show will be on.

This idea that just because you may want more than one streaming service suddenly you have mass confusion seems to be a very desperate attempt to scare cord cutters into staying with cable TV. There is no talk about how cable TV networks often drop shows forcing fans to buy DVDs or have to turn to online options. There is also no talk about the hundreds of cable TV networks out there and how you need to hunt for what you want through often old and outdated hardware.

With two attacks on cord cutting in just a week it is starting to look like NBC is scared of streaming. Yet with Comcast NBC’s parent company losing 238,000 TV subscribers in the 3rd quarter of 2019 you may understand why.
