Comcast TV is About to Cost More – Time to Recalculate Your Cord Cutting Savings

Still not a cord cutter or thinking about going back to cable TV? We have bad news for you. Comcast TV services prices are increasing between $5 and $7 a month in January 2017. Although that may not seem like a lot, over a two-year contract that is an extra $168.

In a letter to city officials impacted by the increases Comcast said that the price increases are necessitated by the rise in programming costs.

“As programmers charge more to carry their networks, our cost of doing business increases,” Comcast stated. “As a result, prices for certain services and fees will be going up.”

These fees have really started to add up for some customers. The Premier XF Double Play package will now cost a Comcast subscriber $187.99 a month. A subscriber to the Premiere XF Double Play package will pay Comcast $4,511.79 before taxes and fees. That could easily push the cost of their Comcast TV package over $5,000 during the life of the contract.

Maybe it is no surprise—after seeing these prices—why so many Americans became cord cutters in 2016. With these price increases it is almost certain that cord cutting will continue to grow.
