Comcast Refuses to Air Sling TV Ads

Recently Sling TV began airing TV ads about their service. Many networks including ABC, FOX, and CBS are airing the ads. Yet Comcast has decided not to air the ads on any Comcast owned and operated NBC station. Independent NBC stations are airing the Sling TV ads.

Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch said in a blog post that “The refusal to air our campaign endorses the ads’ central truth: there are traditional Pay-TV players that just don’t get it.” Roger Lynch went on to add “Comcast has a demonstrated history of shutting down ideas it doesn’t like or understand, predictably to its benefit and at the expense of consumers.”

Clearly Sling TV is scaring major cable companies like Comcast. This move is strange as Comcast often airs competitor’s ads for starlight TV services on their owned and operated channels.

We have reached out to Sling TV for comment on any plans to file a complaint with the FCC, or other organization, to fight this effort to deny Sling TV access to potential customers. At this time we have not heard back from Sling TV and will update the story when we know more.
