Comcast Price Hikes Push Monthly Bills Over $250 for Many Customers With TV & Internet

Comcast Cable Truck

Comcast, the nation’s largest cable provider, has implemented significant price increases across its TV and internet services, pushing monthly bills over $250 for many customers. Cord Cutters News has spoken with multiple Comcast subscribers who are now facing substantially higher costs for their cable and internet packages once the promotional rates come to an end.

The price hikes, which went into effect this month, impact various tiers of Comcast’s services. The popular “Select” TV package, which includes a TV box, has jumped from $53.50 to $60 per month. The “Ultimate” TV package has seen an even steeper increase, rising to $126.25 per month before fees and taxes.

Internet service costs are also on the rise. The “Essentials” internet plan has increased from $9.99 to $15 per month, although Comcast claims this price hike comes with a speed boost for customers.

Fees Fuel Frustration

Adding to the burden for customers, Comcast has also significantly increased several add-on fees. The Broadcast TV fee, a controversial charge levied to recoup the costs of carrying local broadcast channels, has skyrocketed to $25.25 per month. The Regional Sports Network (RSN) fee, which covers the cost of regional sports channels, has also climbed to $11 per month in many areas. These are just a few of the fees Comcast charges its customers.

These fee increases have long been a source of frustration for consumers, who feel they are being nickel-and-dimed for essential services. The lack of transparency surrounding these fees and their substantial increases contribute to customer dissatisfaction.

Autopay Discount Slashed

In a move that further exacerbates the financial burden on customers, Comcast has drastically reduced the discount offered for enrolling in autopay and paperless billing. Previously, customers who opted for these convenient and environmentally friendly options received a $10 monthly discount. However, that discount has been slashed to a mere $2 per month, and only applies if you pay with a credit or debit card, down from $5 a month previously.

This change effectively eliminates a significant incentive for customers to utilize autopay and paperless billing, further increasing their overall costs.

Impact on Consumers

As Comcast continues to raise prices, it remains to be seen how consumers will respond. Multiple Cord Cutters News readers have complained about pricing going over $250 a month just for internet and TV. Some may choose to explore alternative providers or cut the cord altogether, opting for streaming services and other options. The impact of these price hikes on Comcast’s customer base and the broader cable industry is yet to be fully realized.
