Comcast Plans to Rollout Blazing Fast 10 Gigabit Internet in 2023

Need even more internet speed? Comcast hears you and is testing a 10-gigabit internet package.

This comes as Comcast has successfully tested its new DOCSIS 4.0 internet that will offer symmetrical gigabit internet giving customers as much upload speed as download speeds. Comcast hopes to start selling internet packages with 10G download and 6G upload internet.

This is part of Comcast’s plan to find new revenue sources from existing products. While most American households will struggle to take advantage of this service today, there are many good uses for it. The new 10G plans will be very attractive to many content creators looking for crazy strong upload speeds and corporations looking to take advantage of the increased broadband speed to allow their offices to have crazy fast internet speeds even when hundreds of devices are using it.

According to Netflix, you only need 15 Mbps down per each 4K HD stream. That means a 10G internet connection could easily do over 66,000 4K HDR streams at once. (Did I screw up that number? Leave me a comment and let me know.)

So for now, most Americans would likely be better off saving some money with a slower and much cheaper plan. Right now, few Americans even take full advantage of a 1G connection. In the future, who knows what increased internet demands Americans will have that may make a 10G internet connection attractive to them.
