Comcast Makes it Harder To Receive an Auto Pay Discount – Here is What You Need to Know

Comcast is cutting more perks and discounts for its customers. Starting July 20th, Comcast is eliminating the autopay discount for any of its cable and internet customers who do not directly link their bank accounts to automatic billing. No longer will customers paying with a debit or credit card be granted the $10 discount, sans business accounts.

To continue getting the small discount according to The Desk, customers will be required to provide the routing number and account number for their savings or checking accounts before the July deadline. Anyone who continues using a debit or credit card for autopay will get a $5 discount instead.

As stated on Comcast’s website:

“When you sign up for automatic payments and paperless billing, you’ll receive up to a $10 discount on your monthly Xfinity bill. The discount will begin within 30 days. Depending on the timing, the discount may not always appear on your next statement but will appear on your following bill.”

However, to receive either discount at all customers must opt out of paper billing and sign up for the paperless option. Customers will need to sign into their Comcast accounts to see each monthly bill or receive them via email.

Even before this discontinued discount rolls out, Comcast customers have reported being dropped from the autopay program in recent years and are continuing to report such problems on Comcast’s help page.

This news comes after Comcast’s announcement last month the company will no longer be providing Peacock Premium to customers free of charge, which has been included since April 2020. Instead, Comcast will offer a $2 discount to customers who wish to continue using Peacock Premium. The deadline to do so is June 25th, 2023.

Comcast Rewards customers with a Diamond or Platinum level membership can continue receiving free Peacock Premium if they sign up by June 26th, 2023.

Those who opt out of subscribing to Peacock Premium will still be able to access the free tier. It offers a limited selection of Peacock Premium content, including Peacock Originals and a few select series from NBC.

For remaining Comcast customers, be sure to sign up for both paperless billing and provide your banking information to Comcast by July 20th to avoid any loss of discounts or unexpected additional fees.
