Latin woman looking disappointed at her laptopscreen, sitting behind her desk at the office. If you are renting a modem from Comcast, you are easily spending $120 a year just on modem rentals. Over a two-year contract, you are spending $240 just to rent a modem you could easily replace with one you would own. If you rent that modem for four years, you just spent $480 for a modem that likely costs less than a $100.

The good news is you can save that money by buying a modem to replace the one rented from Comcast. That will allow you to remove the $10 a month modem rental fee from your bill.

In the past it could be a bit confusing to pick up a modem that would work for you. Not all modems offer the speed you may be paying for. Comcast has now made it easy to find a modem that is approved for you plan.

On Comcast’s website they have launched a new tool that will show you what modems will work with your plan.

If you are logged into the Comcast website, you will find a list shows up with all of the modems you can pick from. If you are not logged in, or are thinking of switching to Comcast home Internet, you can enter your zip code and Internet speed to find a list of approved Comcast-supported modems.

Comcast is not the only company that will let you ditch the rental. Most cable companies will offer that option. Comcast has just made it extremely easy to find the right modem for where you live.
