Comcast Has Raised The Price of Its Fees, Adding $40.31 in Broadcast TV & RSN Fees to Its Xfinity TV Plans

Are you ready to pay more for TV from Comcast? Now in some areas, including where I live, Comcast has raised the price of its Broadcast TV fee to $31.25 a month on top of the advertised price. Not only that, but you will also find in many areas a $9.10 RSN fee.

Update: Cord Cutters News has learned that this price hike went into effect earlier this year. Comcast’s Xfinity TV customers have been paying up to $31.25 a month just for Broadcast TV fees for months now.

Comcast sent Cord Cutters News the following statement about these fees. “TV networks and other video programmers continue to raise their prices, with broadcast television and sports being the biggest drivers of increases in customers’ bills. We’re continuing to work hard to manage these costs for our customers while investing in our broadband network to provide the best, most reliable Internet service in the country and to give our customers more low-cost choices in video and connectivity so they can find a package that fits their lifestyle and budget.”

This means Comcast is adding $40.31 to many of its TV packages on top of the advertised price. So that $70 Poplar TV package that offers 125+ channels will now cost you over $110 a month once they add in the RSN and broadest TV fee.

Broadcast TV fees cover what Comcast has to pay to local TV stations like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. Many have complained that these channels are marketed as part of the packages only to have an extra fee added on top of the advertised price.

Back in 2017, Broadcast TV fees with Comcast cost just $8 a month. Now they have more than tripled over the last six years. Sadly it doesn’t look like the cost of these fees will be going down anytime soon.

These fees also don’t count things like device rentals that can drive the cost of your TV package with Comcast even higher.

Over the course of a year, RSN and broadcast TV fees will add up to an extra $483.72 to your Comcast Xfinity TV package.

Recently Comcast has been looking at ways to offer cheaper TV packages. Back in May Comcast announced plans to launch a $20 live TV streaming service. This new service is Comcast’s latest effort to help it fight off the losses it is seeing from cord cutting.

This new service includes a lot of live channels, along with a free Peacock Premium subscription, and free channels from its Xumo Play streaming service. So what should you expect from this service? Today we are going to take a look at everything we know about this live TV service.

For now, though, if you want the main Comcast packages, you are still stuck paying for a lot of fees.
