Today Comcast contacted Xfinity internet customers in many areas to inform them that they are making changes to their internet speeds. Now most Comcast customers will be getting an improved upload speed, and we have even seen that here in our office with our speeds now 55.5 Mbps up.

In the past, if you wanted these improved upload speeds, you had to pay for the xFi Xfinity Internet package. Without that, you would get a slower upload speed. Now Comcast is informing Xfinity customers that everyone will now be able to take advantage of the

This is great news for anyone who does video calls or uploads large files like videos to YouTube. Now you can get far better video calls without the need to pay extra to use the xFi Complete router.

Comcast’s xFi system is their mesh wireless system. Customers who pay for it get unlimited data and, in the past, better speeds. Now though, you still get unlimited data, internet security, and a new gateway every three years at no extra cost.

Here is the email that went out to affected Comcast Customers today:

What’s new?

In the past year, we increased upload speeds for all xFi Complete customers in your area. We’re happy to announce that coming soon xFi Complete will no longer be a requirement for you to receive these upload speeds so long as you use a compatible Xfinity Gateway or third party modem.

Your current Xfinity Internet package, with or without xFi Complete, will allow you to stream, work, and game at the fast speeds you enjoy today.

xFi Complete continues to offer complete peace of mind that comes with the best in-home WiFi. This includes unlimited data, keeping your devices safe and secure from cyberthreats, wall-to-wall WiFi coverage, and an upgraded Gateway after three years at no extra cost.

Thank you for being an Xfinity customer, and we look forward to you continuing to enjoy the benefits of xFi Complete.
