Comcast Cable Truck

In a major move to enhance connectivity, Comcast announced on March 11, 2025, that it has upgraded Xfinity Internet speeds for more than 20 million customers across the United States, all at no additional cost. The upgrade, effective immediately, delivers a significant boost to both upload and download speeds across various Xfinity Internet tiers, including the NOW branded $30 prepaid home internet. Upload speeds are now 50 to 100 percent faster, enabling users to upload large files in moments or share videos on social media in seconds. Download speeds have also been increased for most tiers, ensuring a smoother online experience for streaming, gaming, and remote work.

Cord Cutters News already broke this news last week, but what is new here is one free year of Xfinity Mobile for any current or new customers Xfinity Internet customers. New and existing Xfinity Internet subscribers on plans of 400 Mbps or faster can now enjoy a year of Unlimited Xfinity Mobile service at no extra charge. With WiFi PowerBoost, both Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile customers can tap into speeds up to 1 Gbps, regardless of their internet tier, whether at home or at a hotspot.

Emily Waldorf, Comcast’s senior vice president of Consumer Products, Connectivity and Platforms, hailed the upgrades as a game-changer. “Our faster download and upload speeds, combined with our world-class WiFi equipment, ultra-low-lag Internet experience, and WiFi PowerBoost that delivers speeds up to a gig, are providing customers with a converged connectivity experience that we believe is unmatched in the industry,” she said. Waldorf noted that with 90 percent of Xfinity Mobile traffic traveling over WiFi rather than cellular, the enhancements promise not just speed but substantial savings—potentially hundreds of dollars annually.

This speed jump comes after a $80 billion investment over the past decade that now reaches over 64 million homes and businesses. The network’s reliability exceeds 99 percent, bolstered by AI-driven maintenance that resolves issues preemptively. Comcast also introduced a new low-latency feature, slashing lag for gaming, video calls, and VR applications. Meanwhile, xFi Advanced Security has thwarted over 10 billion cyber threats since its debut, safeguarding devices at no added cost for gateway users. As households juggle hundreds of connected devices, from smart TVs to security cameras, Comcast’s next-generation gateways and WiFi PowerBoost ensure robust performance both indoors and out.
