A Closer Look at the Roku Express, the $29.99 Streaming Player

roku-express-1The Roku Express is Roku’s newest, smallest streaming media box. Starting at $29.99 it is also the least expensive streaming media player of the big three; however, we know little about the new Roku Express.

So we did some digging on the Roku support site for new Roku Express details. The following is what we found.

Private Listing Mode

All new Roku models, including the Express, will offer private listening through the Roku mobile app on your phone or tablet.

The Roku Express Will Stick to Your TV…

The Roku Express is designed to stick to your TV: it is so light it will hang on your TV with an adhesive strip. Roku seems to have the idea that you will stick your Roku to the bottom or side of your TV allowing the IR remote to still work but making it look like the Roku is part of your TV.

According to the Roku support page you will be able to buy replacement adhesive strips if you want to switch it to a new TV or move its location.

The Red Light…

The Roku Express has a red warning light on the front of the box. This light seems to warn users if it is not getting enough power or if it is overheating. If the red light is flashing, the Roku Express is not getting enough power. If the red light is solid red, the Roku Express is overheating.

For now those are just a few of the new facts we learned by checking out the Roku Express support pages. You can find our full look at all the new Roku boxes HERE.
