Cinedigm Acquires Horror Streaming Service Screambox

Cinedigm’s portfolio just got a lot scarier. The Company announced it has acquired Screambox, a streaming service that caters to all things in the horror and thriller movie genre. The service is widely available and can be accessed on mobile devices, the web, Connected TVs, as an Amazon Prime Channel, and more.

With a focus on global expansion and distribution, reaching seven-figure subscriber levels within the first 36 months after the acquisition isn’t a far stretch for Cinedigm.

This news comes as Cinedigm’s latest acquisition after the company bought Fandor, Today, the leader in global independent film subscription streaming services. Fandor boasts a catalog of more than 4,600 film titles from more than 400 global and diverse partner film companies.

“The acquisition of Screambox is another huge streaming opportunity for Cinedigm,” said Chris McGurk, Cinedigm Chairman. “Having just acquired Fandor, which the Wall Street Journal called ‘the Netflix of independent film,’ we see that same kind of potential for Screambox in the huge, underserved horror category where millions of enthusiasts around the world are looking for a widely-distributed streaming channel with a huge volume of premium horror content. Dan March, Screambox Founder, and his team did a fantastic job in laying the groundwork for all that, and we intend to deliver on his vision.”
