Charter’s Free Broadband Offer Now Extends to Educators

Charter Communications has announced it’s broadening its free-internet offer to include not only students, but also teachers as well. The initial offer, for households with students, was announced earlier this month as part of the company’s response to the coronavirus outbreak and is good for 60 days. This newest update could make it easier for educators working from home to keep their lessons going online.

According to Charter’s home page, the offer is available to households with teachers and students ranging from kindergarten through college. It’s open to new accounts only, so those with existing Spectrum Internet subscriptions aren’t eligible. Lastly, Charter said it’s offering free installation as well.

The moves are part of Charter’s overall response to the pandemic. The company is among the more than 500 that have signed on to the Federal Communications Commission’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge that calls on broadband providers and telcos to offer assistance and reassurance to residents and small businesses during the current situation.
