CES Day 3 Recap: Opening Day, Nvidia Shield, & More

Yesterday was opening day of the Consumer Electronics Show’s (CES) show floor. All the press events are over and we are on to the fun of trying out the devices.

Here are a few highlights from CES’s opening day.

Twitter & The PGA

Today Twitter and the PGA announced a deal to live stream parts of PGA tournaments. This is not the first time Twitter has lived streamed PGA events as last year it streamed the FedExCup Playoffs, but this new deal is more substantial. This deal allows Twitter exclusive rights to live stream parts of 31 PGA tournaments across what’s left of the 2016–2017 season.

Roku Ads

In an age of more companies and sites cramming more ads on their service Roku reconfirmed its dedication to never having more ads on its home screen.

In a message to its advertisers Roku today announced, “There will only ever be one ad shown at a time, so you’ll never be competing with other brands for the viewer’s attention.”

Nvidia Shield

NVIDIA last night unveiled the new NVIDIA® SHIELD™ TV—an Android TV open-platform media streamer built on bleeding-edge visual computing technology that delivers unmatched streaming, gaming, and AI experiences.

“NVIDIA’s rich heritage in visual computing and deep learning has enabled us to create this revolutionary device,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, founder and chief executive officer of NVIDIA, who revealed SHIELD during his opening keynote address at CES.
