With so many announcements, we wanted to recap everything we learned.
TCL & Roku Connect
During TCL’s press conference they had two big announcements: A new line of Roku TVs and a line of Roku Connect speakers.
Let’s look first at the new Roku TVs.
TCL 6-Series
The TCL 6-Series includes a 4K high dynamic range picture. The set will support Dolby Vision HDR and now boasts HDR Performance Package Pro to further elevate the experience. The HDR Performance Package Pro includes Contrast Control Zone Technology, a new iPQ Engine, and a versatile HDR Pro Gamma control.
TCL 5-Series
TCL also announced a new 5-Series with 4K UHD picture quality that also includes Dolby Vision HDR for a stellar imaging experience. The 5-Series includes TCL’s HDR Performance Package, which features HDR Dynamic Contrast™.
TCL says the 6- and the 5-Series Roku TVs will be released in spring 2018.
Roku Connect Smart Speakers
The TCL Alto smart speaker will take advantage of the Roku OS to deliver a superb entertainment experience. It will offer premium sound, while taking advantage of Roku Connect to connect to other AV devices, and it will use new voice controls accessible through the Roku Entertainment Assistant.
Channel Master SMARTenna+
Today Channel Master, the company best known for their line of OTA DVRs, announced a new smart antenna called SMARTenna+.
This 60-mile indoor antenna uses new Active Steering technology from Ethertronics. With this Active Steering feature, the antenna will automatically maximize TV channel reception.
Android TV
Google needs a big 2018 for Android TV, and they are off to a great start with new Android TVs coming from Haier and Westinghouse.
