Today during the CBS’s second quarter earnings call Monday, CBS CEO Les Moonves said the new, as-yet unnamed channel is modeled on CBSN, the company’s streaming news service, which is now becoming available as a channel on skinny programming bundles being offered by virtual streaming services like fuboTV.
Details are still thin but if it is like CBSN that would make this a FREE streaming service. No date or what sports will be supported have been announced. CBS has a long history of airing sports from the NFL to college football and basketball being some of their biggest draws. CBS also has deep connections to the PGA and a host of other events. It will be interesting to see if this service will have any of these popular sports.
CBS also said the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will be streamed directly to customers. (Likely through the UFC fight app.) They also went on to say that CBS All Access will be launching in international markets starting in Canada in 2018.
