CBS is Launching a Local News Streaming Service

Want access to your local CBS news streaming online? Today CBS announced that they are adding local news to their CBSN news app. The new service is called CBSN Local and will slowly be adding CBS owned stations. The new service will give you access to your local news when you want it both live and on-demand.

Not only will you get your current local news but each day there will be an additional daily newscast exclusively through CBSN Local. CBS also announced that CBSN Local would be added to CBS All Access in the future giving you access to your local news through your CBS All Access subscription.

CBS is not the first company to do this. NewsON first launched a few years ago and offers local news streaming live and on-demand. Currently, no CBS Stations have announced that they will be leaving NewsON for the new CBSN Local service as they are owned by 3rd parties.

CBS is hoping by making news more local they will help attract cord cutters who have slowly been moving away from traditional pay TV services. CBS has said their CBSN news service and the new CBS Sports streaming services have done well by offering a free streaming option. Now CBS is hoping local news will also pay off for them as the way Americans watch TV changes.
