CBS Is Expanding Its Local Version of CBSN to More Markets

Back in December CBS launched its first local versions of CBSN. These local versions would include a mix of national and local news streamed online for free through the CBS News app.

Now the first of these networks has gone live: CBSN New York. This network is dedicated to New York City and partners with WCBS and WLNY with an additional one-hour news cast specifically made for CBSN New York at 7am, 1pm, and 7pm.

Now CBS has announced plans to offer local CBSN versions in all 13 major markets that CBS owns a local news station.

Back when CBSN New York launched CBS said: “The launch of CBSN New York represents the beginning of an exciting new era for our local media business,” said Peter Dunn, president, CBS Television Stations. “We are thrilled to be able to provide our premium local news content on all of the most popular platforms and open the door to multiple revenue streams. CBSN New York and the other streaming local news services launching in 2019 will be a perfect companion to the award-winning national and global news reporting provided by CBSN.”

Look for more local CBSN networks to roll out in the weeks and months ahead.
