Now we know that CBS and YouTube are in talks for YouTube’s new live TV streaming service.
On Monday CBS CEO Les Moonves said “It’s not just economic factors,” Moonves said in response to a question about what it would take for him to offer CBS content on streaming services. “We’ve been able to make a deal, as you said with, well we haven’t announced yet, potentially with YouTube.”
Details are still limited but we do know that Fox and NBCUniversal have already struck a deal with YouTube. Now it looks like CBS has signed a deal or is about to agree to stream their content on the new YouTube live TV service.
For now, that is all we know about the service. There are rumors that it is expected to be released in early 2017 at about the same time Hulu’s live TV streaming service is expected to hit the market. However, it could just turn into one more Apple TV service that, at the end of the day, was unable to get off the ground due to lack of deals. Yet it is starting to look like YouTube will have the deals they need.
