CBS Continues Expanding Local Version of CBSN, Now to Boston

CBS has launched another direct to consumer news service, CBSN Boston, the third of 13 planned launches.

Prior to the launch of CBSN Boston, there was CBSN New York and followed by CBSN L.A in June. San Francisco is set to be the fourth, launching in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to a report from Broadcasting Cable.

As we reported in August, CBS announced plans to offer CBSN versions in all 13 markets where CBS owns a local news station. The plan is to launch in each of the remaining markets by next year, including: Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Philadelphia, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Denver, Miami, Sacramento, Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

“The combined resources of CBS Television Stations and CBS Interactive are placing our CBSN Local services at the forefront of addressing consumers’ interest in receiving local, relevant and useful information on all platforms,” said Adam Wiener, EVP and GM of CBS Local Digital Media. “With today’s launch in Boston we continue moving forward with an accelerated plan to launch CBSN Local services in all of our local news markets.”

The ad-supported CBSN content will eventually come to CBS All Access for those in the included markets.
