CBS All Access Will Stream UEFA Champions League Matches Starting in 2021

sports fans cheeringToday it was announced that CBS and Univision will have rights to the UEFA Champions League for three years starting in 2021. With this deal, CBS All Access will stream UEFA matches starting in 2021 and the matches will also air on CBS Sports Network according to the Sports Business Daily.

The deal is reportedly worth $100 million as part of an effort to grow CBS All Access from just being a service to offering CBS programming. With HBO MAX, Hulu, Peacock, and Apple TV+ all competing for subscribers, CBS seems to be hoping live sports will help it stand out. CBS has recently heavily pushed NFL games on CBS in an effort to stand out. Now the addition of UEFA soccer in the states may help attract new viewers.

Univision has also renewed its Spanish-language rights to UEFA matches. Currently, Turner’s B/R Live streaming service has the rights but after trying to renew for English rights it was outbid by CBS.
