Canadians Are Finally Getting Good Cord Cutting Options

If you are an American you may be shocked to learn that most Canadians don’t really have good cord cutting options. There is no Sling TV, DIRECTV NOW, or PlayStation Vue. Netflix and Amazon Prime are there, but they are just a fraction of the size of the US versions.

But there is good news because streaming services are starting to see the possibilities in Canada and are moving to grow into the Canadian market.

Recently DAZN, the so-called “Netflix of Sports,” launched in Canada with every NFL game along with a host of other sports for just $20 a month. This allows Canadian cord cutters to, for the first time, have legal access to NFL games in Canada.

Next, and maybe the biggest announcement, was the plan to bring CBS All Access to Canada. CBS is looking to bypass the stranglehold companies such as Rogers and Bell have in the Canadian TV market by offering CBS shows and movies directly to Canadian subscribers.

fuboTV, a live TV streaming service, has also launched in Canada. While it has a limited channel selection, it is starting to make moves to bring live TV to Canadians.

This is great news for American cord cutters also. As live TV services continue to grow into new markets it helps drive more streaming services to take cord cutting seriously.

Hopefully for Canadian cord cutters more streaming services look at launching in Canada in an effort to grow cord cutting overall.
