Canada Is Investigating Cable TV Providers For Misleading & Aggressive Practices

Worried couple reading a letter sitting on a couch in the living room at homeAccording to the CBC, Canada opened hearings this week on if they should expand “code of conduct” to include internet and cable services. Part of this is looking into cable TV providers’ misleading and aggressive practices. As part of this investigation, the Canadian government received 1,300 comments about telecommunications. Here is a quick break down of the comments:

Many are calling on the Canadian government to impose new rules to protect customers from misleading practices. Some are even calling for a fixed price for internet.

Others are concerned that the Canadian government may take control of the internet limiting investments and competition.

For now, the hearings are only a fact-finding mission and no dates have been set for when some recommendations may be made.
