Showtime just got the rights to the weekly newsmag “Vice” and has already ordered a new 13-episode docuseries season to premier Spring 2020.

“Featuring a diverse group of award-winning journalists with a boundless passion and determination to inform, Vice has redefined documentary filmmaking with acclaimed reports on a range of international issues affecting young people today,” Showtime said. The series will add to Showtime’s current lineup of unscripted content, which includes The Circus and Murder in the Bayou.

HBO cancelled ‘Vice’ in 2018, and then later cancelled “Vice News Tonight” last summer which had run daily since 2016.

“Our team of award-winning reporters, producers and editors have set the tone for gold-standard longform international reporting and we can’t wait to bring those stories to Showtime, who share our passion for quality storytelling, differentiated and important journalism, and distinctive voices that capture the critical issues facing our world today,”said Vice Media CEO Nancy Dubuc.

Vice is also reportedly working on bringing Vice News Tonight back, on Viceland, along with talks of bringing a news show to Hulu.
