Cable TV Rates Are Skyrocketing Again!

Comcast-e1396980588440Once again cable TV companies’ responses to dropping subscriber numbers is to jack up their rates. Because if your subscribers are leaving due to high costs the best thing to do is to raise your rates right?

Time Warner Cable plans to raise its sports programming fee by $2.25 to $5 per month, and its broadcast programming fee by $1 to $3.75. Comcast plans to raise its broadcast fee by $1.75 to $5, and its regional sports fee by $2 to $3. Phone and satellite companies are planning similar increases, which vary depending on the package.

Starting in early 2016, some Dish subscribers will pay $2 to $8 more per month on TV packages. AT&T’s U-Verse customers will see a monthly increase of between $2 and $4, while satellite-TV provider DirecTV, bought by AT&T this year, will increase its monthly bill between $4 and $8.

This may not seem like a lot, but a dollar here and there adds up. For example, $8 more a month will add $96 a year to your bill. You could almost subscribe to a full year of Netflix or Amazon for just what the rate increase is for Dish and AT&T subscribers.

So tell your friends that if some of them don’t want to pay almost $100 extra in 2016 they need to cancel cable today!
