Cable TV Fees Are Going Up Once Again

A young woman is sitting in her kitchen and is loking at her receipts at home while using a smart phoneIf you still have a traditional cable TV subscription you may want to get ready for a price hike. This week it was announced that Altice USA is raising their rates 3.2%, and when one company makes a price hike often others do too.

“We are investing in our networks, services, and the overall customer experience, from launching our Altice One entertainment platform to the deployment of our fiber network, which we are actively building throughout our footprint,” Altice said in a statement. “Our rates, like those of other pay TV providers, continue to be impacted by skyrocketing programming costs, of which we pass just a fraction of those rising costs along to customers.”

Not only will they be raising their package rates but their fees will also be going up mostly by $1 each. The broadcast TV fee will be going up to $4.99, the sports fee is going up to $3.99, and the set-top box rental fee is going up to $11 a month for new customers. Even cable cards will be seeing a $0.50 raise in price.

According to Altice USA in 2017 the average revenue per customer was $155.82 every month. Now this will likely push well over $165 a month.
