C Spire Is Launching 100 Mbps Down Fixed Wireless Internet for $60 a Month

Stuck with limited Internet options? Wish you had a second or third option? C Spire wants to be that new option to take on traditional DSL and cable Internet.

Yesterday C Spire launched a new fixed wireless Internet service in 22 Mississippi markets reaching 91,000 locations with 100 Mbps down Internet.

This new fixed wireless Internet service will cost $60 a month—a price that will make this service a real option for many Americans who currently find themselves with limited options.

C Spire said they previously conducted trials of the new fixed wireless technology and in those trials, the company saw coverage of up to 10 miles. Yet likely in an attempt to be overly cautious a C Spire spokesperson told Telecompetitor, “We anticipate that five miles is likely more realistic in terms of services that we would provide our customers.”

Cord Cutters News talked with a C Spire Home Services product representative who confirmed that at this time there are no set data caps. Yet C Spire does reserve the right to de-prioritize some of the highest users during peak usage times and in the event of high network traffic.

Fixed wireless Internet is not C Spire’s only effort. They are also working on fiber to the home Internet service in several markets.

C Spire joins a growing list of Internet providers offering fixed wireless as an Internet option. AT&T and Microsoft along with a host of smaller companies have been working on fixed wireless Internet. Others are working on 5G as a wireless Internet option to take on the monopoly of Internet options in many markets today.
