Buckeye Broadband Ignores Net Neutrality As It Launches Its Own Live TV Streaming Service

Buckeye Broadband is a cable TV and Internet provider in Ohio and parts of Michigan. Recently, it launched a new live TV streaming service called StreamTV. This is something a growing number of cable providers are doing, but Buckeye Broadband has exempted StreamTV from its data cap. This means services like Sling TV and YouTube TV are at a disadvantage because of the strict data caps imposed by Buckeye Broadband.

Right now, the average data cap is 1 TB, but Buckeye Broadband’s data caps start at 10 GB a month for the 10 Mbps down plan and 250 GB for the 50 Mbps and the 200 Mbps plans. If you go over that limit you will pay $15 for every 50 GB. Or you can pay $15 for an additional 150 GB, but you must call in and ask for the additional 150 GB of data or you will be charged $15 for every 50 GB of data.

If you want unlimited data, so you can stream all the YouTube TV, Sling TV, and PlayStation Vue you want, you will have to pay an extra $30 a month. Or if you live in an area with 1,000 Mbps speed you can get unlimited data but that plan costs $299.99 a month.

When you look at the low data cap of Buckeye Broadband it imposes an additional cost to anyone who wants to use a live TV streaming service other than StreamTV.
