BritBox Hits 400,000 Subscribers

At this week’s IBC Conference for media, entertainment, and technology, BritBox exec Tim Davie announced that the streaming service has passed the 400,000 subscriber mark. This news comes just six months after we announced BritBox reaching 250,000 subscribers in March of this year.

Davies went on to tell the IBC Conference crowd that he plans to reach 500,000 subscribers by March 2019, commenting “By its second birthday, I’m looking for half a million, that’s quite a lot of candles on the cake. We’re doing well.”

While the company doesn’t have any grand plans of rivaling major services like Netflix and Hulu, Davies and the team do want to continue growing and offering more content, including some original content, for those interested in their niche category.

Haven’t heard of BritBox? It’s a streaming service dedicated to providing a collection of British TV programming to a wider audience. Geared toward expats, along with anyone who enjoys entertainment from across the pond, BritBox offers both classic series and episodes of new shows typically only available to audiences in Great Britain.

Recently, BritBox added their first original series, The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, to their collection.
