‘Bridgerton’ is Officially Netflix’s Biggest Series Ever

New numbers are in, and Netflix revealed its breakout series Bridgerton surpassed the streamer’s expected 63 million views by a landslide. The period drama was watched by a record 82 million households globally in its first four weeks, cementing its spot as Netflix’s biggest series to date. The title was previously held by the fantasy series The Witcher which pulled in 76 million views in its first 28 days.

It’s worth noting that while Netflix’s series viewership is growing, so is its subscription base. Although Bridgerton reached more households overall (41% of Netflix’s 200K subscribers), The Witcher was watched by a higher percentage of the streamer’s viewership base. The Henry Cavill-led series was viewed by 46% of Netflix’s then 167 million users a year ago.

Regardless, Bridgerton is still officially Netflix’s biggest series to date, and the streamer is thanking viewers for the achievement.

A second season has already been ordered at Netflix, this time focusing on the oldest Bridgerton, Anthony’s pursuit for a suitable match. Production is set to begin in Spring 2021.
