The Best Subscription Streaming Service of 2017 is… (2017 Cordie Winners)

Gold trophyOne of the most popular discussions in cord cutting is what is the best streaming service for cord cutters. With over 100 streaming services out there, it can be hard to find the right one.

This year as part of our annual Cordie Awards we asked our readers what they thought the best (non-live TV) streaming service is.

Thanks to the many votes we can now take a look at what our readers thought was the Best Streaming Service of 2017.

#3 Amazon Prime Video

In 2017 Amazon has been working on building up their Amazon Prime Video streaming service with new original shows and access to sporting events such as Thursday Night NFL Football. Many of these new additions came late in 2017. Now with this growth and the popularity of Amazon they are the third most popular streaming service of 2017 with 14.5% of the vote.

#2 Hulu

Hulu has had a huge 2017. Their catalog of shows has skyrocketed as Fox and others move most of their shows from other services to Hulu. Time Warner is now a 10% owner of Hulu and slowly they have grown their programming. Now with 17.1% of the vote Hulu is the second most popular streaming service of 2017.

The winner for the Best Subscription Streaming Service of 2017 is…

Netflix

This one won’t surprise many but the fact that they won with 60.6% of the vote may surprise some. Netflix was one of the earliest subscription streaming service and that has helped them develop a large lead in the number of subscribers.

Now Netflix is moving to focus mostly on original programming with the goal to soon have half their catalog be made up of original Netflix shows. It will be interesting to see how that affects the 2018 voting.

Other services that received votes:

CBS All Access, HBO Now, Acorn, Boomerang, Britbox, Hallmark Now, and others.
