The Best Smart TV OS of 2017 Is… (2017 Cordie Award Winners)

As 2017 comes to a close we asked our readers to vote for their favorite streaming services, devices, and a host of other categories. This is the third time we have held our Cordie Awards, and today we take a look at the Best Smart TV OS of 2017.

In the past, many rightfully recommended not buying a smart TV because the OS often fell behind what a streaming player could offer and rarely saw updates. Now with Amazon, Google, and Roku taking over, smart TVs are not a bad option for many cord cutters.

We asked our readers to vote on what they thought the Best Smart TV OS was, and here is how they voted…

In third place with 16.6% of the vote is Android TV. Not that long ago Sony decided to ditch their smart TV OS and team up with Google. Now Sony is the flagship maker of Android smart TVs. This seems to be working well and our readers voted them the third Best Smart TV OS.

In second place with 17.1% of the vote is the Fire TV Edition Smart TV OS. The Fire TV Smart TVs are the newest smart TV OS on this list; however, they seem to have made a big impact this year and came in at second place according to our readers.

The Best Smart TV OS of 2017 is…

Roku TVs

Roku really kicked off this recent trend in Smart TV OSes, and it seems to be paying off for them. Now with 55% of the vote, Roku is the Best Smart TV OS of 2017.
