Bally Sports’ Streaming Service Goes Down For a 4th Straight Night

Bally Sports+ is once again down today for the fourth straight night as the RSN struggles to make its streaming service works. This comes as the NBA and NHL recently started their seasons, putting demand on the service.

Update: Bally Sports reached out to cord cutters news to say that its streaming service did not go down on Tuesday.

The company’s Twitter customer service account, @BallySportsHelp, confirmed the streaming outage in what has become a recurring theme. So far this week the service has gone down every night as users find themselves unable to watch the games they paid $20 a month for.

The company said earlier this week that its tech partner experienced a widespread outage that prohibited the service from streaming its various games, and said that the issue had been resolved.

It’s just the latest problem for Bally Sports, which is in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings and still needs to present a reorganization plan that includes keeping some of its key contracts with various sports teams. A few teams have already broken away, instead partnering with local broadcasters to get their games on air and reaching a broader audience.

Some have already seen success since leaving, with the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights seeing its ratings double that of a year ago since joining with Scripps.

Bally Sports and parent Diamond Sports Group was squeezed by both the pandemic-era slump in sports and the rise of cord cutting, which meant fewer cable subscribers willing to pay for the regional sports network. It’s why other companies like Warner Bros. Discovery are shedding their own regional sports networks.

Bally Sports was not available for comment before publication.
