AT&T Watch TV is No Longer Available for New Subscribers

AT&T has stopped making AT&T Watch TV available to new subscribers, cutting down on the numbers of streaming services offered by the company. The website for the service now has the following message.

Standalone WatchTV is no longer available for new sign ups or to re-subscribe. Existing WatchTV customers who subscribe to the app or have a qualifying AT&T Unlimited plan can continue to use the service. Customers on a qualifying AT&T Unlimited plan with the WatchTV benefit can create an account here.

After the message, the page redirects to the WatchTV login page where existing customers can sign into their account to use the service.

We reported that AT&T was planning to retire AT&T Watch TV in November 2019, after speculating that the end was near for the service in July 2019. As the company continuously made remarks about focusing on AT&T TV and HBO Max, there was very little talk of AT&T Watch TV. AT&T then launched HBO Max, making the new service available to its wireless customers in a move that suggested it would take the place of Watch TV. Now, the service is following in the footsteps of U-Verse as AT&T works toward shifting customers to AT&T TV and HBO Max.

AT&T Watch TV launched in summer 2018. The service was a cheap TV package at just $15 a month and came free with select AT&T Unlimited Wireless plans.
