AT&T Wants to Stop Giving You Free HBO & MAX As It is Raising The Price Of These Plans By As Much as $20 a Month

AT&T seems to really want you to upgrade to the newer AT&T Unlimited Plans that give you free HBO. This week AT&T announced that it will be raising the price of many of the plans that give you free HBO from Max by as much as $20 a month.

Most of the plans listed above also include free HBO Max, now just called Max.

When AT&T owned Warner Bros. they used at the time free HBO Max to get customers to switch to AT&T Unlimited plans and gain new subscribers for its profitable unlimited plans. Once AT&T sold Warner Bros. to Discovery, creating Warner Bros. Discovery, they stopped offering free HBO Max, now called Max. If you already had it AT&T would still let you keep the free Max subscription.

Recently, AT&T has been cracking down on the free Max subscription, canceling access to anyone who it feels does not pay for the right plans anymore. Now they are raising the price of its unlimited plans that include the free Max subscription helping to make the newer plans without Max look more attractive.

Since it no longer owns HBO and Max, AT&T now likely has to pay for each customer who is on these plans. It’s unknown exactly what its deal is with Warner Bros. Discovery, but it seems like AT&T is looking for ways to get customers to move off of these plans to lower costs.

If you are impacted by this price hike, you should receive a notification soon.
