AT&T TV NOW Updates Its Roku Channel with New Features

Even though the AT&T TV Channel on Roku has been unavailable to new Roku owners since January 1, 2020, AT&T is still updating it with new features. Yesterday AT&T updated the Roku Channel for AT&T TV and AT&T TV NOW to include new features like the ability to switch channels by using the Dpad to channel surf.

AT&T and Roku have been in talks about bringing the AT&T TV app back to Roku, but so far there has been no success. With AT&T TV launching next Monday, AT&T seems to be updating the app to be ready for that March 2, 2020, launch. The question now is will new AT&T TV customers be able to download the app on Roku or will AT&T not support the largest streaming player at launch.

Roku accounts for about 50% of all streaming players in the US. AT&T seems interested in supporting the device but, for some unknown reason, Roku and AT&T have been unable to reach a deal.

Recently it was reported that FOX and Roku’s fight was over ad revenue and bringing more content to the Roku Channel. It is possible that Roku and AT&T are also fighting over using Roku ads in AT&T TV and bringing WarnerMedia–owned content to the Roku Channel. For now, we will have to wait and see what happens, but both sides do not seem to be backing down at this time.
