AT&T TV NOW Adds WGN America

AT&T TV NOW logoAT&T TV has added WGN to its library of available channels. WGN was recently acquired by Nexstar when the company closed on its purchase of Tribune Media Company for $6.4 billion this week. This deal has now allowed WGN American to add AT&T TV.

This will mark the first time that WGN will be available on a live TV streaming service.

In an article from Deadline, Nexstar CEO Perry Sook said this about the addition of the channel: “Our game plan is to operate the heck out of it. We think, with television stations that reach 63% of the U.S., we can be helpful in promoting the channel,” adding that the network would be available on AT&T TV in October, as we now see to be true. AT&T has previously confirmed that networks on AT&T TV would also be available on AT&T TV NOW.

Originally carrying Chicago Market sports programming, WGN America has expanded its library over the past decade to include popular re-runs like How I Met Your Mother and classic favorites like Murder She Wrote. It’s also home to new originals like Dogs Most Wanted, Carter, The Disappearance and more.
