AT&T Says DIRECTV & AT&T TV NOW Subscriber Losses Have Peaked

A young woman is sitting in her kitchen and is loking at her receipts at home while using a smart phoneYesterday AT&T reported TV subscriber losses of over 1.3 million. Now AT&T says that they believe that DIRECTV and AT&T TV NOW subscriber losses have peaked and will start decreasing in the fourth quarter of 2019.

According to AT&T, the recent blackouts like with the CBS blackout drove high subscriber losses in the third quarter of 2019. AT&T implied that these blackouts will soon be ending because most contracts have been renewed.

Now, this does not mean subscriber losses are over. AT&T did say that there still is some subscriber clean up to come in the fourth quarter of 2019, yet subscriber losses should improve. AT&T has recently been trying to force customers off of cheaper TV packages to more expensive ones and the subscribers who won’t move AT&T has been trying to push off their services.

The losses for AT&T TV NOW will likely continue in the fourth quarter as a new price hike will take effect. This hike will make AT&T TV NOW the most expensive live TV streaming service when looking at the starter introductory package.

For now, other than the end of blackouts, AT&T has not announced how it plans to stop subscribers from leaving its TV services.

What do you think? Has AT&T found a way to turn around its subscriber losses? If so how? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
