AT&T Plans to Offer True 5G Internet Nationwide By The First Half of 2020

couple of people texting on phoneBack when AT&T announced 5G speeds on their wireless network many of their competitors pointed out that 5G Evolution was not true 5G. Now AT&T has announced that they have successfully rolled out what they are calling 5G+ what their competitors called true 5G to Dallas TX. AT&T says this is the first step in meeting its goal of having true 5G internet nationwide by the first half of 2020.

“While our initial 5G+ deployment is focused on dense, high-traffic zones where enterprise applications can take advantage of lower latency and faster speeds, we’ve also announced 5G on lower band sub-6 spectrum for broader coverage, which will be available nationwide in the first half of 2020.” AT&T said in a statement on its website.

AT&T offers a 5G with a hotspot device from NETGEAR and a Samsung S10 5G phone to use on its 5G network. This new 5G NETGEAR Nighthawk hotspot will allow AT&T customers to access 5G internet through the AT&T network.

Verizon is already offering 5G home internet in a handful of markets including Houston Texas. In these markets, Verizon is offering 300+ Mbps down internet with no data cap and no device fees for $50 a month for Verizon customers and $70 for non-Verizon customers.  AT&T plans to offer 5G services for $70 a month for 15GB of data. For now, this is just AT&T’s mobile 5G internet we will have to wait and see what AT&T does with their home internet plans in the future.
