From the limited information, we have this version seems to be more targeted to replacing their traditional satellite TV. This version will also come with an in-home connected TV set-top box that is likely the Android TV streaming player we saw AT&T was working on last fall.
From all the reports and leaks we have seen over the last few months AT&T is hoping to launch a box you can buy in stores take home and have TV streaming in your home. The big question now is will AT&T have different packages for this “home-centric” version of DIRECTV NOW or will this just be an easier way to set up DIRECTV NOW.
We do have an early look at the box AT&T is testing to be the backbone of this new service. (See photo at the top of this post.) From the looks of it the device will run Android TV and have a line of sight IR remote.
So what do you think of AT&T’s plans for a “home-centric” DIRECTV NOW service? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
