AT&T is Working On a $15 Sports Free Version of DIRECTV NOW That Would Be FREE to AT&T Wireless Customers

Wish you had a sports free version of DIRECTV NOW? Well, now it looks like AT&T is working on that. Today AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson testified today during the trial over their Time Warner merger. During that talk, he opened up about AT&T’s future plans for DIRECTV NOW.

One of the major product news he announced was that AT&T plans a skinnier version of streaming service DIRECTV NOW, called AT&T Watch. This new service will be priced at $15/month and be a sports free version of DIRECTV NOW. According to Mr Stephenson, the service drops sports programming and will focus on other channels similar to how Philo works. The hope is the service will appeal to a more budget-conscious streaming audience.

It is also being reported by Variety that AT&T Watch will be offered to AT&T Wireless customers for free.  No additional details are currently available but it does look like AT&T plans to launch AT&T Watch no matter what happens with the current court case.
