AT&T is Waiving Wireless Overage Charges for Next 60 Days

AT&T TrucksAT&T announced yesterday that it will be waiving wireless overage charges for customers nationwide, including charges for voice, data, and text.

“I don’t think any of us have ever experienced a situation quite like this one. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected virtually every American, upended the engines of commerce, closed schools and some businesses, and disrupted the rhythms of our daily lives,” AT&T CEO Jeff McElfresh said in a statement.

The announcement comes after AT&T announced that it would be providing unlimited internet and distance learning assistance last week, followed by an announcement that it would be closing 40% of retail store locations for the safety of both employees and customers.

In addition to these updates, AT&T also announced that the company will be doubling its paid leave from 80 hours to 160 for employees who have tested positive for COVID-19, those at higher risk, parents or guardians of children whose schools have closed when another childcare option is not available, and for those who are the primary caregiver of someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
