AT&T is Testing a New Version of The DIRECTV NOW Streaming Player & They Are Looking For New Beta Testers

Last year AT&T announced that they had started beta testing for a new streaming video device they planned to offer with DIRECTV NOW. In December DIRECTV NOW mailed out their streaming player to a handful DIRECTV NOW subscribers to test out. Now AT&T is looking for a new set of DIRECTV NOW beta testers to test out an updated version of the DIRECTV NOW streaming player.

Precisely what is new is not fully known, but from looking at the images of the new DIRECTV NOW streaming player, it looks like AT&T has taken feedback about the remote and made a few changes. Many in the AT&T beta group complained that the DIRECTV NOW streaming players remote was stiff and unpleasant stiff to use. Now there is a new remote with larger buttons and a new D-pad that is likely meant to address these complaints.

Here is the first gen DIRECTV NOW streaming player and remote:

As you can see the remote has been completely remade but the box looks the same. Sadly without getting our hands on the box, we will be unable to find out if there have been any changes in performance or features.

If you are a DIRECTV NOW subscriber check your email. You may have an invite to test out the new DIRECTV NOW streaming player from AT&T.
