AT&T is Shaking Up The Leadership At HBO & Turner

It is being reported that David Levy a longtime Turner executive is leaving WarnerMedia as is Richard Plepler the longtime CEO of HBO.

“My dad always gave the best advice,” reads the letter Plepler sent to HBO employees. “Whenever there was a difficult decision to make, he counseled that since no one could ever have perfect visibility into the future, the best thing you could do was trust your instincts. It has been a touchstone for me throughout my life, and I have found myself returning to it again recently as I think about what is an inflection point in the life of this wonderful company. Hard as it is to think about leaving the company I love, and the people I love in it, it is the right time for me to do so.”

This news comes just two days after AT&T won approval from the United States Appeals Court for their deal to buy Time Warner. The Department of Justice had been calling on AT&T and Time Warner to sell all or part of the Turner Broadcasting Group—the group of cable networks that includes CNN—or to sell off DIRECTV and keep the cable networks as a potential requirement for approving the pending deal.

Now that this deal is done it looks like AT&T is shaking up former Time Warner leadership to put new staff in place.
