Here are the states AT&T has already announced plans to roll out fixed wireless internet Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
“Fixed Wireless Internet is just one of the innovative solutions we’re evaluating to continue to connect home and businesses in rural and hard to reach areas. Millions of U.S. households lack access to internet service, and in many cases, a fixed wireless connection can reach homes and businesses where a wired network cannot.” AT&T said in a statement on their website.
This Fixed Wireless internet system is on top of AT&T’s plans to roll out 5G internet in select markets including Dallas, TX and Waco, TX. For this system, AT&T is using a shared spectrum band (3.55-3.7 GHz). This ‘innovation band’ will allow AT&T to bring faster download speeds, greater network capacity and enhanced connectivity than their current cellular can support.
Look for Fixed Wireless Internet to continue to roll out through 2019 as AT&T hopes to offer the service to 1.1 million rural Americans.
