AT&T is becoming a popular choice for cord cutters searching for fast, reliable internet to keep their next binge uninterrupted and their video calls crystal clear. During the company’s Analyst & Investor Day, it reported a significant increase in internet subscribers for the fourth quarter of 2024.
AT&T Fiber added 307,000 new subscribers during the last quarter, marking five solid years of serious growth, which surpassed the expectations of analysts. The company announced that this growth contributed to a 7.8% year-over-year increase in consumer broadband revenue, reaching $2.9 billion.
“The strong results this quarter are the result of a four-plus-year period of hard work and consistent execution by our teams, which has positioned us well for a new era of growth,” said John Stankey, AT&T CEO. “We ended 2024 with strong momentum. Customers and shareholders can look forward to receiving even more value in 2025 as we expand the country’s largest fiber network, modernize our wireless network, grow our business and begin share repurchases in the second half of the year.”
For the last 20 quarters in a row, over 200,000 people have jumped on board and switched to AT&T Fiber. Although fiber is the future, AT&T has seen growth in other areas. In the last quarter of 2024, AT&T welcomed a whopping 482,000 postpaid phone customers to their network. Retention is also high for the company as only 0.85% of their existing customers decided to leave.
AT&T closed the year with $32.3 billion in revenue for Q4, up nearly 1% from last year. The telecoms giant added a net income of $4.4 billion for the quarter, compared to the $2.6 billion in Q4 of 2023. For all of 2024, they pulled in $122.3 billion in revenue and added 1.7 million postpaid phone customers and 1 million new fiber subscribers. This was the seventh straight year the company hit that milestone.
In 2025, AT&T is gearing up for major growth in fiber broadband, predicting revenue increases in the mid-teens. For internet customers and cord cutters, as AT&T continues to develop its products, experiencing lag-free gaming, buffer-free streaming, and no hassles with smart home devices is easier than ever.
