AT&T Increases the Price of AT&T TV and DirecTV

It isn’t just streaming services that are seeing price hikes this week. AT&T quietly increased the first year monthly cost of both DirecTV and AT&T TV for new customers. Existing customers will not see an increase.

The change in pricing was first reported by Phillip Swann earlier this week. With the update, there will be a $10 per month increase for plans across the board.

New DirecTV subscribers will be charged $59.99 per month for the first year with the Select plan, up from $49.99; $69.99 per month for the Choice plan, up from $59.99; $79.99 per month for the Xtra plan, up from $69.99; and $84.99 per month for the Ultimate plan, up from $74.99.

AT&T TV subscribers will also be affected by the price hike. New customers will now pay $59.99 per month for the Entertainment plan, up from $49.99; $64.99 per month for the Choice plan, up from $54.99; $74.99 per month for the Xtra plan, up from $64.99; and $79.99 per month for the Ultimate plan, up from $69.99.

These increases only apply to promotional pricing for the first year. After the first year, the price of each package increases significantly.

AT&T TV launched in March 2020. After the launch AT&T TV, AT&T commented that the new service would be the focus for the company, along with HBO Max, as they stopped marketing DirecTV for new customers. Then company then shared in its Q1 report that it had lost 897,000 pay TV customers, with DirecTV likely being the main driver of those losses.
