According to BBiTV, they developed and own a portfolio of more than 60 issued U.S. patents comprised of technologies developed by BBiTV Inventor and Chief Technology Officer Milton Diaz based on his work over several decades. BBiTV developed the underlying technology that all of its patents were derived from, and BBiTV has not acquired any of its patents from third parties.
BBiTV claims that DISH, DIRECTV, and U-Verse TV are all infringing on patents owned by BBiTV.
“Milton’s inventions have transformed the way millions of consumers around the world watch TV, movies and other content. At its core, streaming media technology as we know and love it comes from BBiTV,” said Clifton Kagawa, CEO of BBiTV. “The use of these patented technologies without a license is not acceptable.”
For now, we will have to wait and see how the court handles this case targeting some of the biggest names in TV.
