AT&T Confirms DIRECTV NOW No Longer Offers ESPN3

A few months ago, DIRECTV NOW customers lost access to ESPN3 content. At the time some support agents said this was just a glitch and ESPN3 support would return shortly. Now AT&T has confirmed that ESPN3 is not coming back and should never have been part of DIRECTV NOW.

In a statement on DIRECTV NOW’s help forums, an AT&T employee confirmed that ESPN3 is not part of DIRECTV NOW. “Prior access to ESPN3 on your DIRECTV NOW channel lineup or WatchESPN app was in error as ESPN3 is not part of the channel lineup. Keep in mind we’re always looking to add more channels into our lineups.”

As best we can tell DIRECTV NOW is the only live TV streaming service to offer ESPN but not ESPN3 content. What is even more interesting is when this same AT&T employee first posted about this outage they said, “We’re currently looking into the issue with ESPN3 and we are working to have a resolution as soon as possible. We really appreciate your patience through this inconvenience.” It took over a month before that was updated to say ESPN3 should never have been part of DIRECTV NOW.

The good news is if you want ESPN3 your ISP may give you access but you will need to log out of DIRECTV NOW to find out. If your ISP supports ESPN3, it should just start working. Or you could switch to any other live TV streaming service that offers ESPN3 like Sling TV, Hulu, or YouTube TV.
