AT&T & Comcast Are Fighting Over Mobile Phone Speed & Performance Claims

AT&T and Comcast have fought for years over internet and TV services. Now AT&T and Comcast are fighting over wireless phones. This time the fight has to do with Comcast’s advertising claims.

Recently AT&T filed a claim with the National Advertising Division (NAD), which regulates claims in ads. The argument is that Comcast’s claims to have the “best network” and “fastest mobile service” are not true. Now the NAD has agreed with AT&T and ordered Comcast to make several changes to its ads, according to a report from Light Reading.

These changes include:

This win for AT&T may be short-lived, as Comcast is already appealing the ruling.

Earlier this year, T-Mobile was also urged to stop using claims like fast, high-speed, or reliable for its T-Mobile Home Internet service in ads by the National Advertising Division. Increasingly it seems like the NAD wants companies to stop making general claims about being the best without clear data.

Verizon has also won a claim against Comcast recently over claims of Comcast 5G over Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G. In that fight, Comcast also agreed to make changes to its marketing.
